Manhattan Teen Jumps Into Hudson to Save Elderly Woman Who Slipped From Riverside Park Pier

17-year-old Liam Petry jumped into the Hudson River on a cold March morning after an elderly woman slipped off a wet dock board at Riverside Park's Pier 1 and could not stay above the surface. Liam Petry entered the water within seconds, kept her afloat, and held on until FDNY Harbor Unit arrived. She was transported to NewYork-Presbyterian and listed in stable condition.

"He was in the water before I even understood what was happening," said the friend who was with Petry. "There was no hesitation at all."
